Livin’ it up in Mountaineer Country
Mountaineers Go First💛💙
Home to West Virginia University; Morgantown IS the spot for sports-ball gatherings. WVU college basketball, football, and baseball.
Downtown offers an ample 21+ bar scene. There’s plenty of chain stores, chain restaurants, and vape shops. And car washes!

In researching; I’ve found that Monongalia County has a significantly higher population of student-age. SURPRISE!
This “towering” demographic is likely the reason there’s very little businesses invested for families.
As a Monongalia County resident (and taxpayer); there’s a few perks around here.

Which leaves us townies wondering. Or maybe you’ve already asked Google;
“What to do with kids in Morgantown?”
FUN things to do in Morgantown:

The Chant of Morgantown
It takes a village! From Westover, to Sabraton. From Greenmont, to Suncrest; The chant heard ’round here is:

Let’s stay… In our Community 💙💛

Presented and sponsored by The City of Fairmont, Marion County, and local business donations.
Stroll through Palatine Park. On the greenspace lawn; in the crowd. Hundreds, sometimes thousands of people. Families, couples, solo. Everyone gathers for a reason.

Each week during the Summer; Palatine Park is THE Mecca for NCWV Entertainment.
FREE Live music shows range from 90’s Hip Hop Mogul Rob Base to Americana Blues group Rev Peyton’s Big Damn Band. Of course, many tribute bands.

2024 Palatine Park Summer Schedule

I always look forward to the release of the concert schedule! The Summer event schedule is released in the Winter. Usually mid-January. Bringing a warm smile on a chilly day.
Is Palatine Park good for kids?
Absolutely YES! Kids will enjoy the FREE Splash Pad (Open til 7pm) until the concert begins. There’s a playground next to the Splash Pad. Walking around the fishing piers. Making new friends. Enjoying the show!
Is Palatine Park dog friendly?
I’ve seen dogs here. However, I’d recommend to leave the pooch at home. It’s crowded. It’s loud. And.. It’s hot. The ultimate trio of misery for pups. Please. Let them chill at home for a bit!
Everything you need to know before the show!

Free Parking!
Parking is ample, plenty, and FREE! Park along Everest Drive, New street, and Water Street (just before the bridge). Handicapped spots available by the New Street section. Plenty of security and lot attendants to keep things moving.
Bring your own chairs!
There are bleacher seats and picnic tables available at Palatine. However, most folks bring a blanket or chairs.
BYOB!
Coolers are permitted at Palatine. Bring refreshing beverages and enjoy the show!
(Alcohol must be put in plastic cups)

BYOF!
There are several Food Trucks available at Palatine. However, the lines can be long. Many folks stop by Domino’s Pizza for the $4.99 Super-Saturday deal. Or bring fast food. Or pack a picnic! There’s also charcoal stoves available; you could even bring chicken thighs for a BBQ!
Staff and Cleanliness
The staff works tirelessly each week to ensure everyone is having a pleasant experience. The grounds are kept clean, and the environment feels secure.
