The battery life remaining on our phones at the end of the day; demonstrates how much we consume.
When I’m plugging my phone in at the end of the day, I look at the battery percentage.

This is a “phony” article.
But, I’m gonna be as real as I can get.
My goodness!
We have evolved so much from “when I was a kid”.
It used to be one single line at home, and that was it. The phone was on the wall, and the cord was very long. Then the cordless upgrade, and it came with an answering machine! How cool!
Then car phones, then Nokia, then..
Today we’ve got smartphones, aka “devices”.
Somewhere in the last 25 or 30 years, being “always available” became 100% normal.
In today’s society, each member of the family has their own device.
Can you imagine being teleported back to 1994, sharing a phone with the entire household?
Oh, and only voice calls!
Man.. We’ve changed a lot in the last 30 years. The digital era is upon us. We’re all just trying to keeping up with the times.
Screen time can be extremely unhealthy. Especially if we’re just mindlessly indulging in the glare. Doom-scrolling, “looking”, and “checking”.
Healthy minds are free of distractions. Focused on better. Time is so precious and so valuable. Use your time wisely! Developing healthy and meaningful relationships with your family and friends. Your circle matters more than some giant “bubble”.
The world right in front of my eyes is much more important than the “world” I’m holding onto in my hands.
Online Shopping
- I used to scroll Amazon “for fun”. I would buy several things a week. Ultimately $600 to $800 a month in “stuff”. During covid, I completely lost touch with how much items “actually” cost in stores, and was spending way more than necessary. I canceled my prime membership and completely cut online shopping altogether.
News
- I would constantly “inject fear” and keep up to date on all the latest news stories. Now I realize that it’s completely out of my control. Knowing about current events in the world doesn’t change what’s happening. The media thrives on “breaking news”. It’s heart-breaking! The world in front of us is also faced with adversity and struggles. Our family, friends, neighbors, and community. Go on walks! Get to know your neighbors. Be a “good neighbor”, lend a hand, and communicate!
Social Media
- The average person has 245 friends on Facebook. That’s a lot of “mental space” to keep up to date with. Not to mention all the “pages” we like. It’s a long transaction of attention-seeking and validation. You only see the “good parts” or the “breaking news”. The rest is mundane details of everyone’s daily lives. Some of the memes are kinda funny, though. Getting rid of social media was probably one of the best things I’ve ever done for mental health. Comparison is the thief of joy. Social media is the model, and I was spending too much time in the mirror.
Games
- It’s a way to escape current life’s problems and focus on “another world”. In “another world”, we can’t focus on what’s going on around us. And these “goals” are not truly valuable. Valuable goals bring value to life. I’ve been “hooked” on a few. Candy crush,Toy Blast, Words with Friends, Angry Birds, Wood Blocks… for what? To “kill time” and maybe “brag about it” to friends? Nah. My time is more important. And weird flex! But, OK. If it fulfills ya.
Live fully, with fulfillment. Make the most of your time here on Earth. It’s a miracle we’re here, and there’s beauty all around us! Each day is a blessing from our Creator. Appreciate life and those around you, and you will be truly grateful.
Always Committed Everyday and cherishing every moment!
