Knowing and Understanding yourself.
Love God, Love Others.
Does knowledge or understanding come first?
Believe and act do.
Be able to know, understand, and be able to do.
Changes happen naturally.
After losing 200 pounds, I don’t “understand” losing weight.
There’s a whole collection of things I know about. But, very little I understand..
What’d ya know?
I was born deaf; I’d like to think I understand being Deaf. Being Visually Oriented, I see the things differently. However, each individual has their own unique challenges in communication.
I know about traveling. Well, a lot of regional Appalachian/West of the Mississippi fun stops/roadtrips/adventures. West Virginia and beyond. Packing, Preparing, and Cleaning and Organizing. Doing it on the cheap, ya know!
Cooking, baking, dogs, hiking, planning routes, cleaning rooms, organizing cupboards, good music, good people, festivals, Fairs, and Community TOGETHERNESS.
Being a Friend, Loving Neighbors, and doing unto others.
What do you Understand?
Pound by pound, I’d like to say I “understand” losing weight. But, I only understand my OWN personal experience.
I don’t understand the technical part. Or science, or the medical jumbo.
Each and every individual has their own experience.
Ultimately it’s YOUR journey, I’m just giving pointers on what worked for ME.

I want to help anyone who is struggling to get out of that frame of mind.. Because it’s ABSOLUTELY 100% MISERABLE. It’s no life, and no way to live.
At the very beginning of my journey; I was 370 lbs and completely tired of “living like this”. I was completely miserable. All I wanted to do was sit down, watch TV, and “relax”. My job was getting to be physically exhausting. Going from point A to Point B, I was counting each step. My excess weight alone was a huge burden.

I filled out the paperwork and got scheduled for a consultation for gastric bypass. My mind was made up, “I’m getting a gastric bypass”.
Then my mom said, “You know, Bessie. This is not an easy way out. You still have to put in the work”.
Her words echoed into my brain. Man.. Maybe I don’t really NEED gastric bypass. The liquid fast, nutrition issues, and no carbonated beverages forever? After joining a Facebook group for bariatric patients, and reading hundreds of posts (some good, some bad, and some absolutely discouraging).
My thought process shifted..
I said..
“I KNOW how to lose weight, I just have to stick with it”.
A stand up comedian once said “Fat people are experts in losing weight. They’ve done it dozens of times. Ask ’em! They’ll tell you!”.
I’ll be the first to admit; my guilty pleasure is reality shows! I have watched countless hours of “My 600lb life”, “Too Large”, and all the like. I’ve watched many weight loss journeys.
Some are successful.
Some are not.
It’s all about the Mindset!
And STICKING with it!
Life’s a Journey
The journey can be rewarding or miserable. Staying “stuck” makes no difference. Changes ARE difficult. But, man.. the rewards are so great!
Day by day, step by step. You ABSOLUTELY CAN rise above any challenge.

The power is within you. Time is on your side. Enjoy each moment, awake and alive, and able to live fully. It’s only after we live fully, that we can be fulfilled!
Open arms, embracing life, and thankful for every day!
