What is the Old Mindset?
The Old Mindset is the way I used to think.
The way I used to think when I was fat.
Could your thoughts be “making you fat”?
I was morbidly obese throughout my entire life.
Read the mental shift from The Old Mindset.
Let’s walk through thoughts of my old morbidly obese mindset, preparing for a family function:
Preparing the meal: “I better make plenty. Everyone loves this and I want there to be enough to go around”. Goes on to make 6lbs of chicken for a party of 8.
Right before the meal: “I am starving after all this stuff I had to do! Cleaned the house all morning, then this catastrophe happened, took care of that, now all this food is FINALLY ready!”

I deserve this!
Fixing my plate: “I freaking love this macaroni. I’m having two scoops of it! Oh wow! Theres so much chicken, I may as well have 3. I’ll put these baked beans in a bowl, I dont want ’em spilling all over everything and touching my food..”
Eating: “Oh man, I forgot to set out the deviled eggs. Proceeds to get up and 2 deviled eggs and “a tiny bit” more macaroni and beans, and one more piece of chicken.
After the second plate: Ugh.. I am so full I can barely move! I can’t do these dishes, I need to lay down for like 20 minutes first. LOLOLOL (laughs at self, everyone else laughs too)
Dessert: “I’m still full from lunch, but No matter how full I am, I can always eat dessert”All the while drinking something loaded in SUGAR or ALCOHOL ( most often, BOTH).
This is how I was.
FOR MANY YEARS!
It didn’t take much zoning out to remember these thoughts and habits. I am still that person, but with a changed mind. I have to make a conscious effort every single day to make sure I am not falling back into those habits.

My new thought patterns are more like this:
Preparing the meal: “Ok, so there’s 8 of us. I’ll make 12 pieces (1.5lbs) . That’ll be a little extra if someone wants two pieces and or I can send them out for leftovers”
Right before the meal: “Chicken, green beans, macaroni, devilled eggs, drinks” Everyone ready to eat?
Fixing my plate: “This is probably about 500 calories-ish. 150 for this chicken tenderloin, 175 for ½ cup macaroni, 50 for green beans, and 150 for eggs. I’m not sure, probably between 500 to 550 ish.”
Eating: I’m gonna eat this chicken first, then the beans, devilled eggs and then I can reward myself with this yummy ritz cracker topped macaroni I love so much!!! Eats 3 bites of macaroni and reaches the point of fullness. Visits and waits a few minutes, eats another bite or two. Now it’s cold. Oh well, I am really full anyways.
Dessert: You guys wanna eat dessert now or later? I am good either way, let me know!
All the while drinking water! (Or a diet coke!)
