The Kitchen is the Heart of the Home

When Fire Was Enough: The Simplicity of Early Homes
Back in the olden days, the Hearth was fire. Today “home” has a different meaning. Modern homes today are equipped with running water, electricity, and appliances.

“Home Sweet Home”
The Clockwise Technique
The Rise of Electricity and Kitchen Appliances in the 1950s
Most of these appliances were invented and put to use after the discovery of electricity. By the 1950’s; most all essential kitchen tools existed. Toasters, blenders, and microwaves.

The Timeline of Clutter
How to Declutter Kitchen Dishes
Party Hearty!
Before we dive into the average day; let’s talk about celebrations. Gatherings and get-togethers. The busy days.

How Many Dishes Do You Actually Need?
The busiest days in my kitchen are easily Thanksgiving and 4th of July. Traditionally, we have between 8 to 10 guests. Your family may be particularly different. Maybe you really have 20 to 30 guests. In that case, I’d personally entertain ’em with disposable. Entirely too many dishes!
Celebrate Everyday
Every man (and/or woman) needs a functional area to make/store/cook food. The kitchen area; by design, for modern homes. Just as food is important, kitchens are pretty dang crucial. In a way, everything traces back to the kitchen area.

A Gathering Place for Nourishment.
It’s essential.
Essentially in Every Day
How to Declutter Kitchen Utensils
We need utensils to prepare and serve. Pots, Pans, Plates, knives. Spoons, mixers, and “choppers”.
The Most Overlooked Kitchen Clutter
This is only serving as a guide. Every kitchen is different, every person is different.. Some kitchens do not have a dishwasher. Other people make avacado guacamole.
I cook homecooked, made from scratch meals often. I enjoy hosting guests. I love baking! I do not make my own guacamole…

It’s the numbers that count.
To each, their own;
This is my own

Storage Containers: Keep It Simple
I’ve got one drawer devoted to these plastic storage containers. You know, the Rubbermaid ones that go on sale for $7 on Black Friday? Or recycled ham containers.
Is there a magic number? There’s so many variables! I’d top out at 40 matching sets. The magic happens when there’s a place for everything.

If you’re wanting to sift a collection: Match the lid to the container.
No match=TRASH!
Got leftovers? Throw it in a container, and toss it in the fridge! I cook per serving size, eat what’s on my plate. I really aim for zero leftovers.

First things Last
“I can’t keep living like this…”
When I hit my rock bottom; I uttered those words. I was DONE with “being fat”. I began making serious changes. In the start of my journey, in 2021; the very first thing I did was get rid of large bowls.

Priorities make a way
I never understood what clutter has to do with weight loss. Or why I’m able to categorize the two together. My priorities were always straight. Get up, go to work, put food on the table. Above all, making a living and doing my job was #1.

Earn to Yearn
“Every day feels the same”
THAT was the cycle I was in. Get up, go to work, eat dinner, go to bed. Repeat the next day. And the next, and the…
All of my days were planned;
I gotta work.
Come up with a Plan
“Plan to Let Go”
The 40 hour work week: “The Staple” that holds society together. This cycle had me crumbling apart. Money makes the world go ’round, right?
Create Balance
“Let God”
Time is a gift. Each day all of us are provided with; is a blessing. Make the time to thank God!

“The most violent element in society is ignorance. Time is the most precious thing we have, and it should be used to uplift and empower ourselves and others.”
-Emma Goldman
