A Way to Spend the Day!
Planning the Adventure
This adventure was part of the Coalfield Waterfalls Roadtrip.

This park is within somewhat close proximity to Twin Falls and Itmann Company Store.
However, it’s pretty close to Pipestem. Make the trek up the mountain; it’s right there!
Arriving the Destination
Just off the interstate; Camp Creek may be the easiest accessible State Park around. The road to Camp Creek runs parallel to I-77. Let all those cars zoom past; we’re going somewhere special.
A Quiet Place
This is a super quiet and peaceful park. Other than seeing a few road construction crew on the way in; we didn’t see a soul here. I’d love to spend more time here! Primitive camping spots begin @$25 /night.
Primitive and Peaceful
Some parks are super busy;
- New River Gorge Bridge National Park
- Harper’s Ferry State Park
- Blackwater Falls State Park
I’d place New River Gorge Bridge at the very top of a “WV Busy List”.
Then there’s the quiet serene parks like these. They’re quite a treasure. Camp Creek may top the quiet list!

Mash Fork Falls
As the name suggests Mash Fork may have had a history with early Appalachian Moonshiners.
Camp Creek is the perfect water source
Mercer County Memories: Bootlegger memories

Due to lack of rain: The waterfall was lacking. Our entire state needs rain.

We enjoyed climbing and meandering behind the falls. Enjoying the creek.
