The other day, a very old book found a new home. Edward Hines Lumberyard pocket calendar; 1926 edition.

Hardback outside, with a red cover.
Inside are bunches of handwritten recipes. As well as clipped out recipes.
So many recipes for things I’ve never heard of!
Like, Sour Cream Cookies. And Norwegian Christmas Bread. Orange Ice Box cookies. Yes! Food is exciting, I know!
Most all these recipes are super simple. With minimalist pantry ingredients.
A century ago, recipes were written in a much shorter form.
Leaving out steps and details that might require some figurin’ out.
Select Oven Temperatures didn’t exist.
Simply put: “Bake in a hot oven”.




**For the strawberries**
Cut and slice 1lb of strawberries and add 2 TBSP Sugar. Store in an airtight medium-size container.
